How do we know it works?

Our solution emerged as a result of successfully addressing employee engagement and training challenges in a real, rapidly growing retail business owned by the Wisetail Founder. To drive engagement and influence targeted behaviors, the business started collecting corporate memory from its employees and began sharing this wisdom in the form of video stories delivered through a web platform that connected the community socially while also recognizing individual participation.

How it all got started.

Not so long ago, two entrepreneurs met over dinner in beautiful Whitefish, Montana to make an attempt at solving their employee engagement and training challenges. One of the entrepreneurs was a technology consulting veteran with a track record of large - sometimes successful - knowledge management system implementations. The second was a retail management guru that had been battling leadership challenges amongst large teams of Gen X and Gen Y employees for years. Both were ready to throw in the towel after trying all of the "traditional" techniques for improving employee engagement with very limited success. It was time to rethink the strategy and the tools.

The two had just concluded a site visit to one of their locations and had again noticed something that had been apparent over the past few months. At first it caused them quite a bit of concern. The browser histories of the company's computers were clogged with Facebook, YouTube and MySpace visits! Shouldn't their employees be working rather than surfing?

Slowly and painstakingly they came around to the idea of joining the revolution instead of fighting it. And then it dawned on them, they needed to create a fresh approach to a learning management system or intranet that built on the features and social cues of this new wave of Web 2.0 community and video sharing sites. So they started. The initial web platform was built with sticks and bandaids by the ex-technology consultant and they tasked a media savvy team member with the job of capturing short, roughly edited video stories from top employees that centered around the companies culture, processes and products.

A few months later, the first Wisetail LE had been launched with impressive results and after a handful of conversations it became rapidly evident that although these challenges were not unique, the Wisetail solution for driving employee engagement and increasing training effectiveness was.
